Duterte would not renew appointments of SSS execs Amado Valdez, Pompee Laviña

President Rodrigo Duterte has decided not to renew the appointments of Social Security System Chairman Amado Valdez and SSS Commissioner Jose Gabriel “Pompee” La Viña, Malacañang said Monday.

At a press briefing, presidential spokesperson Harry Roque said the terms of office of Valdez and La Viña, who are serving on a holdover capacity, already expired on June 30, 2017.

Roque cited presidential prerogative for not renewing the appointments.

“It’s expiration of term and no renewal,” he said.

Roque said the Office of the Executive Secretary has already informed Valdez and La Viña about the development.

The Palace has yet to name their replacements. — RSJ, GMA News
