Gabriela hits Duterte for telling troops to shoot female rebels in the vagina

Gabriela Women's Party Representative Emmi De Jesus slammed President Rodrigo over his latest "anti-women" remark, when he ordered government troops to shoot female members of the New People's Army in the vagina.

In a statement, De Jesus said Duterte's remark openly encourages violence against women and contributes to impunity for abusers.

"[It] further confirms himself as the most dangerous macho-fascist in the government right now. He has further presented himself as the epitome of misogyny and fascism terribly rolled in one," she said.

“He is dangerously pushing the fascist Armed Forced of the Philippines (AFP) to commit more bloody human rights violations and grave abuses of international humanitarian law, and takes state terrorism against women and the people to a whole new level,” she added.

In a speech at Malacañang last Wednesday, Duterte in Bisaya said that women rebels should be "shot in the vagina."

"Bring that. Tell the soldiers. 'There's a new order coming from mayor. We won't kill you. We will just shoot your [vagina] so that..." If there are no [vagina] it would be useless," he said in the speech.

De Jesus said Duterte's statement would not go uncontested, especially at the time when the military is escalating its war offensive and red-tagging supposed enemies of the government across the country. — BM, GMA News
