300 cops to join reenactment of historic ‘salubungan’ at EDSA

Some 300 members of the Philippine National Police on Sunday will join the reenactment of the historic meeting of government forces and civilians on EDSA in 1986 for the 32nd anniversary of the bloodless revolution.

In a press release on Thursday, PNP chief Director General Ronald "Bato" Dela Rosa said that "security coverage, traffic management, emergency preparedness and response, and other public safety services in all places of engagement" will also be provided by the National Capital Region Police Office.

This year's commemoration of the EDSA People Power revolt will have the theme "EDSA 2018: Effecting Change Towards Strengthened Democracy."

A flag raising and wreath-laying ceremony at the People Power Monument, EDSA in Quezon City will begin at 9 a.m. according to the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG).

Officials from the DILG and local government in National Capital Region are also directed to attend the ceremony.

They are also directed to provide ambulances and fire trucks to be stationed at strategic locations at EDSA People Power Monument. — BM, GMA News
