Top PMA 2018 grad gets house and lot

Aside from garnering the distinction of the Philippine Military Academy's top graduate this year, 25-year-old Cadet 1st Class Jaywardene Galilea Hontoria will also be going home to Iloilo to a new house of his own.

During the graduation rites of the PMA Alab Tala Class of 2018 graduation rites on Sunday, Hontoria was awarded a certificate of ownership of one unit of house and lot in Iloilo City.

President Rodrigo Duterte himself conferred the certificate to Hontoria.

Hontoria, a registered nurse from Pavia, Iloilo, also received the Presidential Saber from Duterte, for topping the Military President's List of Class 2018.

He was also awarded the Chief of Staff Saber for being the brigade commander of the Cadet Core of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), conferred to him by chief of staff General Rey Guerrero.

For being the number one graduating cadet who will join the Philippine Navy, Hontoria was also given the Philippine Navy Saber, awarded to him by Rear Admiral Robert Empedrad, flag officer-in-command of the Philippine Navy.

Hontoria leads this year's batch of PMA graduates, followed by Cadet 1st Class Ricardo Witawit Liwaden and Cadet 1st Class Jun-Jay Malazzab Castro. —Erwin Colcol/LBG, GMA News
