Air Juan cancels flights to Boracay following closure order

Charter carrier Air Juan announced on Thursday the cancellation of several flights bound for Boracay Island following the government's order to close the prime tourist destination for six months starting April 26.

In an advisory, Air Juan said the following flights have been canceled:

  • AO2201: Tagbilaran Airport to Caticlan Airport, April 26 - October 25
  • AO2202: Caticlan Airport to Tagbilaran Airport, April 26 - October 25
  • AO1026: Cuyo Airport to Caticlan Airport, June 1 - October 25
  • AO1027: Caticlan Airport to Cuyo Airport, June 1 - October 25

"Passengers affected by this cancellation may call Air Juan's Reservation and Customer Service at (632) 718-8111 or email reservations@airjuan.com or may also contact Air Juan's accredited travel/sales agents," the airline said.

Air Juan said that passengers with confirmed booking on the said canceled flights will be given options for a full cash refund or a debit/credit card reversal of charges without penalties or a rebooking of flight schedules without fees or charges.

Passengers with confirmed bookings and tickets on the said period are also given the option to reroute to other destinations serviced by Air Juan, subject to fare difference and availability of seats or place the value of the purchased ticket in a travel fund, which can be used to book any flights within one year.

President Rodrigo Duterte on Wednesday approved the recommendation of three government agencies for a six-month closure of Boracay effective April 26 to make way for the rehabilitation of the world-famous holiday destination.

Philippine Airline and Cebu Pacific, likewise, announced that services to Caticlan and Kalibo will be revised due to the order to close the resort-island for six months. http://www.gmanetwork.com/news/money/companies/648923/airline-companies-revise-cancel-boracay-bound-flights/story/

"This is to continue serving local communities who are in need of inter-island connection from the areas," Air Juan said.

"We will evaluate the need to continue these services beyond the inclusive dates based on the needs and demands of the various communities being serviced by our flight schedule," it added. — MDM, GMA News
