DOT issues guidelines for media covering Boracay rehabilitation


The Department of Tourism has issued guidelines for members of the media who will cover the six-month rehabilitation activities on Boracay island.

On Saturday, the DOT said that a maximum of 12 personnel will be given media accreditation per television network, and a maximum of five for radio, print, news wire, and online platforms.

Media accreditation will begin on April 16.

Accreditation may be granted to applicants after submission to the DOT website of accomplished online application forms.

Applicants must fill out the digital form with their pertinent details and upload images of their company identification, letter of request signed by the editor or department head, and 1 by 1 photo.

Foreign reporters, meanwhile, should submit proof of International Press Center (IPC) accreditation.

The DOT said processing of applications will take three to five working days.

Accredited media personnel will be given IDs, which they will present upon entry and wear at all times the during coverage.

President Rodrigo Duterte had ordered the closure of Boracay –starting April 26 –for rehabilitation purposes. —Anna Felicia Bajo/LBG, GMA News
