Dominador Say confirms he has tendered his resignation as DOLE undersecretary

Dominador Say has tendered his resignation as the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Undersecretary for Employment, Policy Support and Luzon-Visayas Regional Operations.

According to a report on Balitanghali on Wednesday, Say said he had given his resignation letter dated March 9 to Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III, who accepted it.

Say said he chose to step down from his post to spare the DOLE from unwanted "pro-management" criticism amid the call of militant groups for the signing of an executive order (EO) on contractualization.

On Monday, Malacañang announced that President Rodrigo Duterte may sign the EO against contractualization on or before Labor Day.

Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque had said labor, management and government had yet to agree on a final version of the tripartite document.

Putting an immediate end to unjust contractualization was among Duterte's campaign promises when he ran for office in 2016. —Margaret Claire Layug/KG, GMA News
