Lacson sees Albayalde's determination to instill discipline among cops

Senator Panfilo Lacson is confident that Director General Oscar Albayalde will serve well as the 22nd chief of the Philippine National Police (PNP) given his determination to instill discipline among policemen.

In a Super Radyo dzBB interview, Lacson, himself a former chief of police, said Albayalde seems to be taking the right path in leading the country's police force.

Mukhang talagang determinado siya na unahin yung disiplina," he said.

Albayalde was recently installed as the new PNP chief replacing retired Director General Ronald "Bato" dela Rosa.

Lacson said Albayalde has come up to him to ask for pointers on how to improve the PNP.

Lacson said that aside from maintaining peace and order, Albayalde also has to deal with "inept, corrupt and undisciplined" policemen.

He told Albayalde to work it out with the PNP's counter-intelligence group.

Before being appointed as PNP chief, Albayalde served as chief of the National Capital Region Police Office.

He also served as Pampanga Provincial Police Office chief and deputy director of NCRPO's Directorate for Plans. —ALG, GMA News
