Alleged Maute member involved in Marawi siege nabbed in Cubao

An alleged member of the ISIS-inspired Maute group has been arrested following the complaint of a concerned citizen.

Philippine National Police chief Director General Oscar Albayalde on Tuesday presented before the media in Camp Crame, Quezon City the suspected Maute member identified as Unday Macadato.

Albayalde said the suspect was nabbed on Monday at around 4:55 p.m. along Felix Manalo Street in Cubao, Quezon City after operatives received a text complaint saying that the latter was "displaying an unknown caliber of firearm threatening bystanders and neighbors."

He added that Macadato is included in the Martial Law Instruction No. 1.

National Capital Region Police Office chief Director Camilo Pancratius Cascolan said Macadato was also a sniper in the Marawi siege and was particularly involved in the main battle area.

The suspect will face charges of illegal possession of firearm and explosive. —KG, GMA News
