Coast Guard chief Hermogino promoted to admiral

President Rodrigo Duterte has promoted Rear Admiral Elson Hermogino to the rank of admiral, four months after the latter was appointed as commandant of the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG).

A member of the Philippine Military Academy Class of 1985, Hermogino took over the leadership of the country’s leading maritime law enforcement organization in January.

His promotion to admiral was approved by Duterte on Tuesday, according to the appointment paper released by Malacañang.

Prior to his appointment as commandant, Hermogino became the station commander of various PCG stations and eventually became the commander of Coast Guard districts in Bicol, Northern Mindanao, Southern Tagalog, and National Capital Region in acting capacity.

He had also handled major units such as the Coast Guard Fleet and Maritime Safety Services Command. — MDM, GMA News
