Hotline for election-related harassment, cheating, emergencies opened


A hotline for election-related concerns such as harassment, cheating, intimidation, emergency situations, and other election-related concerns will be opened on Saturday for the May 14 barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) elections.

Balita, Sumbong, Katanungan (BSK) Teachers' and Voters' Election Hotline will have landline and mobile numbers and Facebook accounts ready for all election-related reports.

All channels will be operated by the Legal Network for Truthful Elections (LENTE) and Teachers' Dignity Coalition (TDC).

LENTE will offer their legal services to complainants who wish to file official complaints against offending candidates or other groups and individuals who violate election rules.

Hotline numbers for TDC are (02) 444-6554, 0999-974466120, and 0916-6126739.

LENTE's hotline numbers are (02) 5021591, 0917-1066265, and 0947-1644158.

LENTE and TDC will man the command post for the hotlines and Facebook complaints from May 13 to May 15.

These posts will closely coordinate with the Department of Education, Commission on Elections, law enforcement units, election watchdogs, and the media.

Lawyers and paralegals from LENTE and teachers who will not sit as Board of Election Tellers will be part of the command center.

The campaign period for the May 14 polls will end on Saturday, May 12. Campaigning will no longer be allowed from May 13 onwards. —KG, GMA News
