Duterte explains failure to vote, the candidates are his friends and supporters

President Rodrigo Duterte has explained his failure to cast his vote in the Barangay election on Monday in Davao City.

In a report of James Agustin of Super Radyo's dzBB, Duterte said he did not vote on purpose because all the candidates in his barangay are his friends.

"Purely political. Lahat yung tumakbo kaibigan ko. Almost all were my supporters in the last election," he said.

"And, they would never believe that nag boto ako only sa kanila. Sa tingin ko the better option would really be to skip the voting. Ayaw ko magduda sila," he added.

He also said that he wanted to erase all the suspicions in the mind of the people who helped him.

Duterte also said he has been monitoring the barangay and SK elections conducted all over the country.

Duterte was supposed to cast his vote at the Daniel R. Aguinaldo National High School in Barangay Matina, Davao City.

School Principal Arlene Bello-Pernes said they brought out the "seat of victory" as part of preparations for the election.

The seat is considered a historical chair and have enclosed it in glass casing since Duterte was voted President during the 2016 national elections. — BAP, GMA News
