Australian missionary has only one day to leave PHL —Immigration

Australian missionary Sister Patricia Fox has only until May 25 to pack her bag and leave the Philippines, with the Bureau of Immigration saying that the 30-day period of stay after the cancellation of her missionary visa will end on Friday.

A report by Cecil Villarosa on Dobol B Sa News TV quoted the BI as saying that the cancellation of the Catholic nun's missionary visa is final and executory.

Earlier, the BI denied "with finality" Fox's motion for reconsideration that sought a reversal of the order forfeiting her missionary visa and directing her to leave the Philippines in 30 days.

The BI began the count down of the 30-day period from April 25, 2018, the report added.

In denying Fox's appeal, the BI dismissed claims of lack of due process and evidence in the forfeiture of her missionary visa and in her alleged participation in prohibited political activities.

Likewise, the BI said that Fox "acted beyond allowed activities under her visa by working outside of Barangay Amihan in Quezon City, the place where she claimed she would render her missionary works when she applied for her visa."

This decision is separate from the deportation complaint against the septuagenarian religious worker, which still awaits resolution by the bureau. —LBG, GMA News
