6 or 7 House lawmakers on narco-list of 91 elected officials — PDEA

A total of 91 individuals presently holding government positions are included in the administration's narco-list, including some members of the House of Representatives, according to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) on Monday.

In a 24 Oras report by Jun Veneracion, PDEA Director General Aaron Aquino disclosed that included in this number are six or seven lawmakers from the House of Representatives.

He added that one of the lawmakers is from Region III and that a vice governor is also included in the list.

Aquino said he would wait for President Rodrigo Duterte's before revealing the identities of those included in the list.

"Any time that the President wish that this list would be disclosed again, then I'll do it," Aquino said.

Aquino said the re-validation of the narco-list would be finished in two weeks.

"Wala silang pakialam kung kakampi ka pa ng administrasyon o hindi. Basta't ikaw na-involved sa illegal drugs alam naman natin ang Presidente," Aquino said.

In April, PDEA released a list of barangay officials who were allegedly involved in illegal drugs. The agency said the list was validated by government agencies, including the police force.

Aquino said that out of the more than 200 barangay officials included in the list, over 70 won the recent barangay polls.

"Kung hindi na-disclose ang listahan na ito baka most likely nanalo ang 100, 200 na 'yun," Aquino said.

Meanwhile, the Commission on Human Rights refused to comment on the latest data from PDEA.

"It is premature for CHR to comment as there is no confirmation yet from PDEA on the nature and release of the said narco-list," said CHR spokesperson Jacqueline De Guia.

The CHR, however, has stressed the importance of due process in connection with the Duterte administration's narco-list, including the presumption of innocence and the right of the accused to defend themselves in court. — Anna Felicia Bajo/BM, GMA News
