Media personalities included in ‘narco-list’ —PDEA chief

Several media personalities are included on the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency's (PDEA) updated "narco-list," according to Director General Aaron Aquino on Wednesday.

"Sa uniformed personnel pa lang, 800 plus 'yun. Kasama na diyan 'yung media, judges, government workers, elected government officials, nandyan lahat 'yan. Kaya from 3,000, na-doble na," Aquino said in an interview on Unang Balita.

He said the updated narco-list was the result of months-long efforts of four government agencies to cross-check and re-validate each name. He said the re-validation is expected to be finished in two weeks' time.

Because of revalidation efforts, Aquino said the number of lawmakers, barangay and other officials on the list had doubled.

"Nagsimula ito ng 3,000 plus nung 2016 and ngayon nasa mahigit na 6,000 na siya," he said, adding the 3,000 was the list President Rodrigo Duterte had with him.

Most officials, including 67 mayors, were labeled as coddlers and protectors of drug personalities, Aquino said. —Rie Takumi/KBK, GMA News
