‘KAPIT-TUKO SA POWER’

Trillanes says Duterte won’t make true resignation pronouncement

Senator Antonio Trillanes IV just shrugged of Wednesday the statement of President Rodrigo Duterte that he would resign from post if there will be enough number of women who would say they were offended with him kissing a Filipino woman in South Korea and call for him to step down.

Trillanes said he believes the President will not quit his post.

“Alam n’yo siguro pang-100 beses ko na narinig ‘yang pagre-resign. Hindi magre-resign si Duterte kasi kapit-tuko ‘yan sa power. Sarap na sarap siya, high na high siya sa power. Hindi yan bibitiw kahit na ano. Manhid yan,” he told reporters when sought to comment on the issue.

Earlier, Duterte dismissed any malice in the kissing incident, saying he just wanted to entertain a crowd of Filipino expatriates.

“If there are enough women to... Well I think if all women here would sign a petition for me to resign, I will resign,” he said.

Bakit ka kikiligin?

Despite the claim of Duterte, the woman whom the President kissed, and administration allies that it was just an act to tease and entertain the audience during the meeting with the Filipino community in South Korea, Trillanes said he believes more people were grossed out.

“Bakit ka kikiligin? I don’t know, siguro nagayuma ‘yung buong Pilipinas o yung mga bumoto sa kanya, I don’t know. Pero di hamak na mas maraming nandiri. Grabe. Alam n’yo bumaba ang tingin sa Pilipina dahil hinahayaan ‘yung ganun,” he said.

He said that regardless if the woman consented to the kiss, it was still improper for the President to do that.

“Wala yun sa lugar. Presidente siya ng Pilipinas, tapos ang konteksto ngayon di ba ang daming naghihirap na kababayan natin sa taas ng bilihin tapos makikipaglandian ka na ganyan? Kahit anong tingnan mo na anggulo, mali eh. Tapos, culture ng Filipono, hindi ganun. ‘Wag niyang gawing masamang tao yung Filipino in general,” he said.

“Ngayon regardless kung may consent yung babae o wala, improper yun at least,” he added. — RSJ, GMA News
