Trillanes: ‘Duterte is an anti-Christ’

More than his "anti-God" statements, President Rodrigo Duterte's supposed promotion of a culture of violence makes him an "anti-Christ," Senator Antonio Trillanes IV said.

"No doubt, Duterte is an anti-Christ. More than his numerous anti-God and anti-Church statements, Duterte has been promoting a culture of killing, violence, hatred, misogyny, and indecency among our people," Trillanes, a staunch critic of the president, said in a statement.

"In other words, everything that was taught to us growing up as Christians or as Filipinos is being undone by Duterte's evil ways," he added.

In the past weeks, Duterte has mocked the teachings of Christianity, even attacking the concept of original sin and creation story in the Bible.

Last Friday, Duterte strongly said he would step down from presidency if it could be proven that the God of Christianity exists.

Malacañang has said that Duterte’s tirades against the Catholic Church stem from his supposed experience of molestation.
