Duterte will 'rant and lie' on his 3rd SONA —Trillanes

Senator Antonio Trillanes IV on Friday said he expects President Rodrigo Duterte to "rant and lie" during his third State of the Nation Address (SONA) on Monday.

In a short statement posted on his Facebook page, Trillanes said Duterte will also justify the supposed pressing need for a shift to federalism by painting a "false bleak scenario of our country."

A fierce critic of the administration, Trillanes said he also expects Duterte to "rant" about illegal drugs.

"But of course, I don't expect him to utter a single word about the 6.4 bn peso shabu case," he said.

The former Navy officer was referring to the smuggled shabu from China found in a warehouse in Valenzuela City in May last year.

The controversy, which was investigated by both the Senate and the House of Representatives, is being linked by critics — including Trillanes — to Duterte's son, former Davao City vice mayor Paolo Duterte.

Paolo Duterte has repeatedly denied involvement in the shabu shipment.

Special Assistant to the President Bong Go said Duterte's speech, which is 20 pages long, will tackle his campaign against illegal drugs, corruption, and poverty, as well as the rehabilitation of war-torn Marawi City—KBK, GMA News
