Duterte says he will resign if his bank account exceeds P40 million

President Rodrigo Duterte on Friday said he will step down from his post if his bank account is found to have more than P40 million.

In a speech delivered during the inauguration of Northern Mindanao Wellness and Reintegration Center in Malaybalay, Bukidnon, Duterte challenged broadcast network ABS-CBN to go to the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas with him to have his account checked, and if the balance is not more than P40 million, he will slap them.

"Sabi ko nga, I am wi --- I’m, I am challenging ABS-CBN. Magpunta kami sa central bank and I will ask the governor to open my account. Pindot lang ‘yan computer.  I will not give it to a son of a b**** na kalaban ko. Why should I oblige you with…," he said.

"Pero kung sila, okay. Nagnakaw ako, o sige. This is a challenge. This is a challenge which I am hurling at you now. Magpunta tayo ng central bank, tayo. Pagkatapos sabihin ko buksan ‘yung computer at tingnan ko ‘yung account ko. Pagka-sumobra ng P40 million, I will step down. Pero ‘pag hindi umabot ng P40 million, maglinya kayo lahat diyan kay sampalin ko kayo isa-isa," Duterte said.

The President lashed out anew at ABS-CBN, saying that if it were up to him, its franchise should not be renewed.

Duterte said his political advertisements during the 2016 election campaign which he said were paid for did not air on ABS-CBN.

"Sige hirit, sige kuha ng pera namin, hindi naman pina… Not even say, 'We’re sorry but we could not find the appropriate space for your advertisements,'" the President said.

GMA News Online is contacting ABS-CBN for comment as of posting time.

Duterte and his daughter Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio have been reported to have at least P100 million in joint deposits and investments that have not been declared in their Statement of Assets, Liabilities, and Net Worth (SALN).

Duterte denied it and said it was "endless suspicion".

"Billions? Susmaryosep," Duterte said in January, daring Congress to probe his alleged wealth. —KG, GMA News
