Nueva Ecija RTC junks murder raps vs. Satur, Casino, et al

A Nueva Ecija court has junked murder charges against four left-leaning former lawmakers for lack of probable cause, according to their legal counsel on Monday.

Lawyer Rachel Pastores said that the Palayan Regional Trial Court has dismissed charges against Gabriela Women’s Party Representative and now National Anti-Poverty Commission lead convenor Liza Maza, former Anakpawis Representative and former Agrarian Reform Secretary Rafael Mariano, and former Bayan Muna Representatives Satur Ocampo and Teddy Casiño.

The regional trial court on July 11 issued a warrant of arrest against the leftists due to the alleged murder of supporters of rival partylist group, Akbayan.

The case reached the High Tribunal after the respondents questioned the decision of the Palayan Nueva Ecija Regional Trial Court.

Malacañang has clarified that the Duterte administration had no involvement in the issuance of the arrest warrant against the leftists. —NB, GMA News
