Ex-Israeli soldier nabbed in Cainta pre-dawn raid

A former Israeli soldier was arrested in a pre-dawn raid of a condominium unit in Cainta, Rizal on Thursday.

Oren Shlomo Mayer was arrested in the joint operation of the PNP - Intelligence Group NCR, agents from the Bureau of Immigration - Fugitive Search Unit led by unit chief Bob Raquepo.

Immigration officials said Mayer is considered as Taiwan's most wanted personality for being the alleged biggest marijuana trafficker in northern Taiwan and for his alleged involvement in the murder of two Canadians in Taipei.

It took operatives several weeks to track Mayer who changed residence from time to time to evade arrest.

The US embassy already canceled the passport of Mayer.

The Bureau of Immigration is now checking if Mayer has committed any criminal acts in the country and is in the process of expediting his deportation so he can face the charges filed against him in Taipei. — BAP, GMA News
