Ex-NBI exec tagged in Virac shabu lab ordered moved to Makati jail

The former National Bureau of Investigation official being linked to the shabu laboratory discovered in Virac, Catanduanes in 2016 has been ordered transferred to the Makati City Jail.

Currently locked up at the Virac District Jail, Atty. Augusto Eric Isidoro was ordered committed to the city jail by Makati Regional Trial Court Branch 63 Judge Selma Palacio Alaras on August 28.

Isidoro, formerly the acting regional director for the NBI's Central Mindanao Regional Office, surrendered to authorities in March, following the issuance of a warrant of arrest against him by a Virac court.

He is accused of conspiracy to manufacture dangerous drugs and/or controlled precursors and essential chemicals, in violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

The former NBI official allegedly owns the lot in Barangay Palta Small, Virac, Catanduanes where the massive shabu laboratory was built.

Earlier, the Supreme Court had ordered the transfer of the venue of the criminal cases in connection with the drug lab to the Makati RTC upon the request by then Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre II, citing security and neutrality concerns of the Virac judge who originally handled the cases. —LBG, GMA News
