Nancy Binay surprised at dad Jojo’s plan to run for Congress

Senator Nancy Binay expressed surprise Monday on the report that her father, former vice President Nancy Binay, will be seeking a congressional set.

“Hindi ko alam. Nagugulat lang din ako sa mga pangyayari ngayong umaga. Hindi namin napag-uusapan, ang alam ko lang ay pupunta siya ng Italy para magdasal. Parang paulit ulit niyang sinasabi na ayaw niyang pag-usapan ang pulitika,” Binay told reporters.

She said that if that is the true wish of her father, she will support him.

"Kung ‘yun ‘yung next career move niya, lahat naman ng  ginagawa niya we’ve supported him—nung tumakbo siyang vice president, nung tumakbo siyang presidente. Bilang anak, siyempre kailangan full support kami,” she said.

Joey Salgado, the former vice president’s spokesperson, said that during the flag-raising ceremony at Makati City Hall, Mayor Abigail Binay announced that she will run for re-election. She also said former Makati Mayor and Vice President Jejomar Binay will return to public service.

Salgado said the elder Binay will run for Congress. 

“I am confirming that former VP Binay will run as representative for the First District,” he said. —NB, GMA News
