Comelec assures public of automated election system’s integrity


The Commission on Elections assured the public on Wednesday on the integrity of the Automated Election System (AES.) 

Comelec spokesperson James Jimenez gave this assurance after learning of the arrest of a woman mulcting candidates with a guarantee of a win in the upcoming elections by compromising the AES.

“We assure the public that this scheme is false,” Jimenez told GMA News.

Jimenez appealed to candidates “not to be taken in by this scam.”

The Comelec spokesperson likewise said the AES has been used since 2010 and that “results have stood the test of time.”

He added that the Comelec has faced numerous investigations and that “there have been no evidence that the results were wrong or tampered. Comelec stands firm that the results are as they should be.”

Jimenez called on the public to report to the Comelec or the authorities anyone involved in this scam. — Tina Panganiban-Perez/RSJ, GMA News
