Samuel heads to Sulu Sea, Signal No. 1 still up in 10 provinces


Signal No. 1 is still raised in 10 provinces as Tropical Depression Samuel heads toward the Sulu Sea.

According to PAGASA's 2 p.m. weather bulletin, these areas are under Signal No. 1:

Luzon

  • Romblon
  • southern Occidental Mindoro
  • southern Oriental Mindoro and
  • Palawan including Calamian and Cuyo groups of islands

Visayas

  • Northern Negros Occidental
  • Guimaras
  • Iloilo
  • Capiz
  • Aklan and
  • Antique

As of 1:00 p.m., the center of Samuel was estimated 70 km west southwest of Iloilo City, Iloilo or 120 km East Southeast of Cuyo, Palawan.

Samuel has maximum sustained winds of 45 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 70 kph. 

It is off the southern coast of Antique and is moving west-southwest at 40 kph.

MIMAROPA, CALABARZON, Western Visayas, Aurora, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, and Catanduanes may experience moderate to heavy rains which may trigger flooding and landslides, PAGASA warned.

The tropical depression is expected to leave the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) between Thursday evening and Friday morning. — Dona Magsino/MDM, GMA News
