Why Robredo thinks it’s good she wasn’t invited to Palace dinner with Xi

Vice President Leni Robredo on Thursday raised the issue of her office getting marginalized not only in terms of resources but also in mandate.

Robredo brought up the issue of not being invited to the State Dinner in honor of Chinese President Xi Jinping, who visited the country earlier this week.

"There are a lot of things that are happening politically, that really marginalizes not just me but the Office of the Vice President," Robredo said.

"Just yesterday, I was being asked by people, 'How was the State Dinner?' And I [said], I was not invited," she added.

"So they were telling me, 'How come?' And I was telling them, 'You know, that’s even better, because in the previous occasions, I would be invited then they would disinvite me'," Robredo said.

Robredo was asked the question about herself being marginalized while she took on the advocacy to promote the lives of those in the fringes.

"But you know, I think those are not the most important things," Robredo said, referring to the administration's decision not to invite her to state functions.

"The most important thing is, given the limitations our office has—not just on resources but on mandate—we are able to transform lives in the best way that we can," she added. —NB, GMA News
