Caloocan Bishop David shrugs off Duterte hint he’s stealing donations

Caloocan Bishop Pablo Virgilio David on Friday appeared to scoff at President Rodrigo Duterte's claim that a certain David steals donations to the church.

"You see, people who are sick sometimes do not know what they are talking about, so we should just bear with them," David said in a Facebook post.

"My parents never taught me to steal," he added.

Athough the President did not mention him directly, the Caloocan prelate said that he was the only David among the prelates the Catholic Bishops' Conference of the Philippines (CBCP).

Duterte in a speech on Thursday said, “Ikaw, David, tumahimik ka ha. Sige ka lang hingi ng contribution diyan... Saan ang pera ng mga tao?”

David in a statement on November 2 asked Filipino Catholics to pray for the "very sick" President who had repeatedly criticized Catholic religious leaders. —NB, GMA News
