GMA News reporter, crewmen, Malaya columnist among arrested

A GMA News team, including reporter Sandra Aguinaldo and the network's systems engineer Allan Gutierrez, were seized by police and loaded onto a police bus. Aside from the GMA News team, police also arrested Malaya columnist Ellen Tordesillas. It was not clear why the Aguinaldo, her crewmen and Tordesillas were being held by police. Aguinaldo is among reporters who covered the unfolding crisis that began in the morning when Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV and Brig. Gen. Danilo Lim walked out of their coup hearing at a Makati regional trial court. Police did not cuff the hands of the reporters unlike those who have earlier been arrested. Around 50 journalists were brought to the Camp Bagong Diwa in Taguig for verification, including John Hector Galvez of the Manila Times, DJ Yap and Julie Aurelio of the Philippine Daily Inquirer, Chona Yu of Radio Veritas, Noel Alamar of dzMM and Raoul Esperas of dwIZ. Earlier police accompanied Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV into a police van and will reportedly be taken back into his quarters at the Philippine Marine Corps headquarters in Taguig City. Television footage also showed former Vice President Teofisto Guingona Jr, who was smiling before the crowd outside the Manila Peninsula hotel, was boarded on the same vehicle. He was followed by Brigadier Gen. Danilo Lim, who along with Trillanes led a protest march earlier in the day from a Makati courtroom to the Manila Peninsula. The hands of both Guingona and Lim were bound. Two members of the Catholic church, Fr Robert Reyes and Bishop Julio Labayen, were also boarded onto the bus. - GMANews.TV
