Sinas: Transfer of 143 Central Visayas cops to NCRPO did not cause demoralization

National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) acting chief Police Brigadier General Debold Sinas on Tuesday refuted information that the transfer of 143 cops from Central Visayas to the office he now leads caused demoralization among the police force in Metro Manila.

"I don't think so that there's demoralization," Sinas said in an interview on ANC.

"Some of them want to be transferred here. Others volunteered. They are not being placed in any major command except one, that is my intelligence officer, and that's it," he added.

Sinas said he did not order the replacement of any of the existing staff and officials in the 27,000-strong NCRPO force.

Half of the transferred cops from Central Visayas will be assigned to monitor erring Metro Manila police officers, according to Sinas.

"I chose them because they have no friendship with the police force in NCR. Kumbaga mahirap pang pakiusapan," he said.

Asked what type of leadership would be expected from him, Sinas said his would be quite different from his predecessor, Police Major General Guillermo Eleazar.

"Mine is a different approach, maybe a little bit different... I'm not tough," he said.

"My type of leadership is more on involvement. Before major policies are being implemented, I discuss it with the commanders," he added.

Sinas vowed that enhanced anti-drugs operations, internal cleansing among the police rank, and upholding the morale of the Philippine National Police would be among his priorities.
