FDA sees breach of regulatory process in PSG inoculation vs. COVID-19

The inoculation against COVID-19 of members of the Presidential Security Group was a breach of the regulatory process, the director general of the Food and Drug Administration said on Tuesday.

“Under the law, hindi talaga puwedeng, mag-import, mag-distribute,  magbenta, at gumamit ng unregistered product,” Dr. Eric Domingo said.

“Kaya kami nag-iinvestigate talaga kasi nagkaroon ng breach doon sa regulatory process,” he added of the use of the unregistered vaccine by the PSG.

Acknowledging that the law was not his expertise, Domingo said that the FDA under his watch was only able to hold liable those who imported, distributed, and sold unauthorized products.

Asked in what circumstances the Armed Forces of the Philippines will be held liable over the issue, Domingo told GMA News Online: “I don't know yet. I have to wait for more details."

Interior Secretary Eduardo Ano said on Tuesday that the vaccines used by the members President Rodrigo Duterte's security detail were probably donated.

He added that the PSG members who had themselves inoculated did so on their personal capacity.  -NB, GMA News
