Retired QC cop nabbed for selling stolen grocery items


A retired Quezon City traffic police tagged as the alleged mastermind of shoplifters was arrested on Thursday in an entrapment operation conducted by the QC Police District Intelligence and Investigation Division (QCP-DIID) in his residence. QCPD director Chief Nicasio Radovan Jr, identified the arrested suspect as retired police inspector Amado Ocampo, a resident of No. 5 Villa Beatriz, Old Balara, Quezon City. QCPD-DIID men led by Supt. James Brillantes also arrested suspected shoplifters identified as Mary Ann Gonzales, 30; Jelyn Morales, 25; Roger Cristobal, 30; Imelda Olivares, 28 and Lorna Abordo, 32. Police investigators said one of the undercover policeman from the QCPD-DIID acted as buyer of stolen grocery items and requested Ocampo to sell him P1,000 worth of grocery items. After the transaction, policemen immediately pounced on Ocampo and announced his arrest for selling stolen grocery items. During the operation, police recovered from Ocampo’s house several grocery items consisting of powdered milk, coffee, shampoo, wine, flat iron, medicine, bath soap and three electric meters suspected to have also been stolen. Police also confiscated Ocampo’s a caliber .9mm pistol. Charges of anti-fencing law or violation of Presidential Decree 1612 was filed against Ocampo and his six accomplices before the Quezon City prosecutor’s office.-GMANews.TV
