GMA's 'Imbestigador' lauded by telecom firms

Telecommunications companies recognized another GMA News and Public Affairs program for exposing the worsening state of education in the country, GMANews.TV learned Friday. Globe Telecom and Innove Communications gave Imbestigador a special trophy for its episode “Juan Tanga,” which discussed the incorrect entries in textbooks distributed to schools and the low reading comprehension of students. The companies also lauded GMA Kapuso Foundation for the success of its Balik-Eskwela (Back-to-School) program which provided school supplies to poor students. Present during the awarding ceremonies were lawyer Felipe Gozon, GMA chairman, president, and chief executive officer; Marissa Flores, senior vice president for News and Public Affairs; and multi-awarded broadcast journalist Mike Enriquez, Imbestigador host. “I would like to think that I am very proud of our people in the news and public affairs… so it’s no wonder that they are accomplishing much and it is to their credit that our network is number one today. But not only that we do have sincere corporate responsibility,” Gozon said. Gil Genio, Innove CEO, said part of their objective with the being a partner of the foundation in the Balik-Eskwela program is to be able to inspire other organizations and motivate them to do their own thing. “We share the aspiration for improving the level of education in the Philippines,” said Gerry Ablaza, Globe Telecom president. - GMANews.TV
