Mark Lapid is new PTA chief - Durano


MANILA, Philippines - Defeated Pampanga governor Mark Lapid is now the acting general manager of the Philippine Tourism Authority or PTA. This was revealed Wednesday by Tourism Secretary Joseph "Ace" Durano who said that President Arroyo has named Lapid to the PTA. Durano, the former PTA chief said in a text message that his office received the appointment paper of Lapid Wednesday. Durano said Lapid would be brought to speed on the priorities set by the President to enable him to immediately work on them. Lapid was an actor, in eight films, who turned politician. He became governor of Pampanga at the age of 24 but lost in 2007 to incumbent Governor Eddie Panlilio. He is the son of Senator Lito Lapid. - GMANews.TV
