NAIA lowers to P550 terminal fee for intl flights

Passengers leaving for abroad through the Ninoy Aquino International Airport had one more reason to smile as the lowered terminal fee for international flights took effect Wednesday. Many passengers looked happy with the terminal fee, which was rolled back to P550 from P750, radio dzBB's Sam Nielsen reported. While the roll back was announced last January, the P550 terminal fee took effect only on Wednesday. Manila International Airport Authority general manager Jose Angel Honrado said the fee was rolled back because the five-year security development program has ended. In 2007, the MIAA had imposed an added P200 charge to improve security measures at the NAIA, which it supervises. The security improvement program allowed the MIAA to acquire equipment such as surveillance cameras and new X-ray machines. — LBG, GMA News
