Pinoy music genius conquers New York's Carnegie Hall

Not once but twice, Filipino musical genius Nové Deypalan, who immigrated to California in the United States, conquered New York City’s Carnegie Hall, a report of the news site Asian Journal said.    The Bacolod-born conductor led his ensemble at the prestigious Carnegie Hall in 2005 and again on February 3 this year.   Deypalan studied at the University of the Philippines’ College of Music. However, he finished his Bachelor of Music degree at the Chapman University in Orange, California.   Once a resident composer at the Cultural Center of the Philippines, Deypalan earned a magna cum laude for his master’s degree at the University of Southern California. He is currently finishing his Doctor of Musical Arts degree in orchestral conducting at the same university.   Despite all his achievements in the US, Deypalan intends to come back home to the Philippines.   “I love the Philippine culture and I am proud that my heritage is Filipino. I decided to go to the States because my heart is into classical music," Deypalan said in the Asian Journal report. "I knew America could give me better opportunities in this area. But, my future plans include going back home to our homeland to share my talents to our kababayans after I finish my doctorate here,” he added. The hall was designed by architect William Burnet Tuthill, an amateur cellist, who "studied European concert halls famous for their acoustics, and consulted with architect Dankmar Adler, of the Chicago firm Adler and Sullivan, a noted acoustical authority."  "Carnegie Hall’s smooth interior, elliptical shape, slightly extended stage, and domed ceiling help project soft and loud tones alike to any location in the hall with equal clarity and richness," its website said.
