US Embassy in Manila: Immigrant visa appointments on Aug. 20-21 canceled 


The United States Embassy in Manila will cancel immigrant visa appointments for two days next week: August 20 for Eid'l-Fitr, a holiday in the Philippines, and August 21 for the death anniversary of
Senator Benigno Aquino, Jr.
In a news release, the embassy said its affiliated offices "will resume their regular services on Wednesday, August 22."
 
In posts on its website and social networking accounts, the embassy said it cannot accept applicants on Monday as it is a holiday.
 
"Immigrant visa appointments for Monday, August 20, 2012, (are) canceled in observance of Eid il-Fitr," the embassy said on Twitter.
 
On its website, the embassy said its Immigrant Visa Unit cannot accept applicants on Monday, August 20, 2012 in observance of Eid il-Fitr.
 
Visa applicants can "reschedule appointments by visiting Embassy Manila’s Visa Information and Appointment Service online at http://www.ustraveldocs.com/ph or by calling (632) 982-5555 or (632) 902-8930," it said.
 
However,  it said its call center is open Monday through Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. (Manila time), except on U.S. and Philippine holiday.
 
"You must have the case number, passport number, and passport expiry date for each applicant (principal applicant and derivative family members) ready when requesting a visa appointment," it said.
 
Callers in the U.S. should call (214) 571-1600, from 8:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m. (Eastern Standard Time), it added.
 
Eid'l Fitr is a holiday in the Philippines and falls on Aug. 20 this year, Malacañang said in Proclamation No. 455. - VVP, GMA News
