Cop in UAE jailed for seeking 'sex bribe' from Pinay in traffic row

A United Arab Emirates (UAE) court sentenced a policeman to three years in jail for demanding sex from a Filipina whom he flagged down for a traffic incident last March.

The Court of First Instance convicted the policeman, 30, for soliciting a bribe as a public officer, the news site Khaleej Times reported on Tuesday. The policeman, who was from Oman, can still appeal the verdict within 15 days.

Prosecution records showed that the Filipina, 40, had caused minor damage to another car as she was exiting a parking lot in  March. The investigation showed that the policeman, the driver of a police patrol car, arrived at the accident scene and told the Filipina that she was beautiful. He then reportedly invited her to have sex with him in his car in exchange for writing off the ticket.

The policeman said the ticket would range between Dh1,000 to Dh5,000 (P11,333 to P56,667) and she would also get 10 black points.

The actual fine was only Dh210 (P2,380). The Filipina instead sought help from the police, who raided the defendant's car shortly after letting her board it.

Khaleej Times said the defendant was caught with his pants down when the police raided his car.

The defendant initially claimed that the woman was his girlfriend. However, when the original copy of the ticket was found in his wallet, the defendant confessed that he told the Filipina he would cancel her ticket if she had sex with him. - VVP, GMA News
