DFA opens consular office at SM City Manila

The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) opened on Wednesday its 10th mall-based office — dubbed the DFA-National Capital Region West (DFA-NCR) — at the 5th floor of SM City Manila. DFA-NCR West, the fourth DFA office at an SM mall, offers the following services:
  • new passport application,
  • passport renewal, and
  • authentication services.
It also provides walk-in applications and special lanes for senior citizens, infants and minors below one year old, persons with disabilities (PWD), and overseas Filipino workers (OFWs). DFA-NCR West is open on the following days:
  • Monday to Saturday: 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. for both processing and releasing of passports and,
  • Sunday, 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., for passport releasing.
To schedule an appointment, applicants can log on to manila.passport.com.ph or call the DFA appointment hotline at (02) 737-1000.

Covering a 1018.57-square meter area, the facility can accommodate 1,000 passport applicants daily and around 200 applicants for authentication services daily. The authentication services will be available to the public beginning October 12.
Foreign Affairs Secretary Albert del Rosario led DFA officials in inaugurating the office at SM City Manila, located near the Manila City Hall. Among those who attended the opening were: Manila Mayor Alfredo Lim, Manila District 5 Congressman Amado Bagatsing, Manila District 3 Congresswoman Zenaida Angping, SM Prime Holdings President Hans Sy, and SM Retail President Tessie Sy-Coson. In a text message to GMA News Online on Wednesday, DFA spokesperson Raul Hernandez said DFA-NCR West is "another tangible proof of the DFA's commitment to bring services closer to the Filipino people."
The DFA has already opened mall-based offices in NCR:
  • DFA-NCR East at SM Megamall on August 31, and
  • DFA-NCR Central at Robinsons Galleria on September 19.
