6 hurt in NLEX road accident

MANILA, Philippines - Six people were hurt after a passenger bus careened on the portion of the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) in Bulacan province. GMA’s Flash Report said that the bus, owned by Santa Monica Transport, was plying the Bocaue Exit of the NLEX when the road accident happened at about 8 a.m. The bus came from Divisoria in Manila and was supposed to travel to Angat town in Bulacan. The report quoted bus driver Ariel Villarin as saying that a 10-wheel truck tried cutting him on the road, prompting him to apply the brakes. However, the slippery pavement caused the bus to skid toward the side of the road then fall on its side. The television report said the bus was in “total wreck" after the road incident. Villarin said the driver of the 10-wheel truck did not bother to stop and just sped away. The six still unidentified victims had already been rushed to the nearby St. Paul Hospital. - Mark Merueñas, GMANews.TV
