New-born kidnapped from Iloilo hospital - report

MANILA, Philippines – A couple is grieving over their missing newly born baby which was kidnapped by a lady who posed as a nurse inside the Aleosan District Hospital in Iloilo, a television report said Tuesday. In an exclusive report, GMA Iloilo said couple Ann Anino and Edsel Purtillo remain clueless as who took their baby boy inside the hospital Friday last week. The report said that a woman dressed in a nurse's uniform approached the baby's grandmother, Rosalina Anino, who was then taking care of the baby. The incident took place a few hours after Ann delivered the baby. “She (nurse) said she will clean up the baby that why is she borrowed the baby, I said yes. I have no inkling that she will not return," said the grandmother, speaking in the dialect. Rosalina said she begun to worry when the nurse didn’t return after several hours. “My daughter said she saw a lady inside the comfort room dressing up in a white uniform," the grandmother added. The hospital management denied that any of their nurses or staffs was involved in the incident. “Our staffs, nurses at midwifes here knew each other. Our security guard knows them," said Dr Ernesto Garvilles, director of Aleosan District Hospital. The report said the Ann was discharged in the hospital but she still refused to talk to media. - Fidel Jimenez, GMANews.TV
