ARMM regional science high school gets new building

MANILA, Philippines — Students at the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) High School received a needed boost in their studies with a new six-classroom building constructed with help from Japan. Japanese Ambassador Makoto Katsura turned over the newly constructed six-classroom building last Wednesday, the Japanese Embassy said Friday. The project in Sarmiento village in Sultan Kudarat town in Shariff Kabunsuan province is funded through the Japanese Embassy's Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP). It was built with a grant amounting to $82,077 (P3.6 million). Complete with tables and chairs, the classrooms are expected to directly benefit more than 250 students of the only science high school in the entire ARMM region. The school is also regarded as the regional center of excellence in science and mathematics. Before this, the students had classes in makeshift classrooms made of abandoned construction materials collected by the school management from a nearby construction site. - GMANews.TV
