Cops raid ‘shabu tiangge’ in Laguna

MANILA, Philippines – Eleven people were invited for questioning by authorities after an elite police force raided a suspected “shabu tiangge" in Pagsanjan, Laguna on Wednesday afternoon. In his exclusive report, GMA News reporter Jiggy Manicad said the raid, which was jointly conducted by the Laguna Special Operations Group and the Provincial Mobile Group, resulted in confiscation of different paraphernalia allegedly used in the drug session. Authorities also recovered sachets that contain crystallized powder believed to be methamphetamine hydrochloride (shabu). The report was aired over "24 Oras." The report also said operators of the suspected shabu dens in Barangay Biñan are charging every drug user P20 as rent. Senior Inspector Vicente Cabatingan, chief of Laguna special operation group, said the raid was conducted on daytime since it would be dangerous for the operatives to do it at night. The report added that operatives of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) had previously raided the same area following reports of rampant illegal drug trade there. Those who were invited would be subjected for questioning to determine who among them are users, pushers or operators of the shabu dens, the report said. - GMANews.TV
