<b>MANILA, Philippines —</b> A Belgian national shot himself dead after killing his Filipino wife in Iguig town in the northern province of Cagayan, a radio report said Thursday.<br rn/><br rn/>Radio dzRH reported that Iguig police chief Senior Inspector Wilfredo Dupaya identified the Belgian as Constant Van Girt, 60, and the Filipino wife as Rosaly De Vera-Girt, 37, a resident of Minanga Norte village.<br rn/><br rn/>The couple succumbed to gunshot wounds in the head, inflicted by a 9-mm pistol.<br rn/><br rn/>Constant, a former soldier who arrived in the Philippines last January, was dead on arrival at a nearby hospital, while Rosaly died two hours later.<br rn/><br rn/>Dupaya said the couple fought briefly before the shooting incident, with the Belgian suspecting his wife of having an affair.<br rn/><br rn/>Investigation showed the Belgian got suspicious when he could not understand what Rosaly was saying in a cell phone conversation shortly before they fought.<br rn/><br rn/>But the Van Girts’ daughter said Rosaly was talking to a business partner in Manila. <b>- GMANews.TV</b>
