Phivolcs: Ilocos magnitude 4.1 tremor sixth quake in one day

Six earthquakes have rocked the country on Monday, including the magnitude-4.1 tremor in Ilocos Norte in Northern Luzon shortly after noon. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Philvolcs) said the quake was recorded at 12:26 p.m. and was tectonic in origin. In its bulletin, Phivolcs said the epicenter was some 87 kilometers (kms) northwest of Laoag City. However, the Phivolcs bulletin did not immediately say where the quake was felt. It added no aftershock was expected from the Ilocos quake. Earlier in the day, at least five quakes were recorded, including two predawn quakes in San Pascual in Burias Island and three in Bayombong in Nueva Vizcaya. The first of three quakes in Nueva Vizcaya were measured at magnitude 5.1 and Phivolcs warned of possible aftershocks. – VVP, GMANews.TV
