Plane burns at Lingayen airport; 2 hurt

Two students of a flying school suffered slight injuries after a plane they were about to fly burst into flames while at the airport in Pangasinan province Tuesday. Police Officer 2 Amador Nazareno of the Lingerer police said the incident occurred at 10 a.m. at the Lingayen Airport. "Magte-takeoff sana ang Cessna pero...rumampa sa konkreto... nasunog ang eroplano (The plane was about to take off but there was a malfunction and it burst into flames)," Nazareno said in an interview on dzBB radio. He said the two passengers of the Cessna plane (RPC-8204), pilot John Mirasol, 22; and co-pilot Japet Chua, suffered minor injuries but managed to get out of the plane. "Biglang dali lumabas ang dalawang piloto, nagkaroon ng minor injuries lang, nakalabas sila agad (The two pilots managed to get out of the plane quickly. They suffered minor injuries)," he said. The two students were brought to the Don Mariano Verzosa Memorial Hospital in Lingayen for treatment, he said, adding that police and aviation officials are investigating if the incident stemmed from human or a mechanical error. — LBG, GMA News
