2 ships collide off Cebu; probe ongoing

The Philippine Coast Guard has started an investigation into the collision of two sea vessels off Cebu province early Thursday morning. Both the passenger ship SuperFerry 2 and cargo vessel MV General Romulo sustained damage after the collision off Talisay City, radio dzBB's Cebu affiliate reported. A sketchy initial investigation showed the two ships were heading for Cebu from Manila when the SuperFerry increased speed and hit the cargo vessel from behind. While there was no initial report of casualties, the dzBB report said some of the cargo MV General Romulo was carrying fell into the water. — LBG, GMA News
