Taal fish kill spreads to one more town in Batangas

Another town along Taal Lake in Batangas was hit by the fish kill that started last week and has caused more than P100-million worth of damage to the fisheries industry in the province. Over 10 fish cages containing milkfish and tilapia in Mataas na Kahoy town were affected by the fish kill on Sunday morning, a GMA News TV Live report quoted Batangas Vice Governor Mark Leviste as saying. The incident followed similar fishkills in the towns of Talisay, Laurel, Alitagtag, Santa Teresita, Agoncillo, San Nicolas and Cuenca. At least P136 million in fisheries produce has been lost in the seven towns, which have been placed under a state of calamity.
