NDRRMC: 'Falcon' death toll rises to 8


The death toll from tropical storm “Falcon" (Meari) rose to eight as of Saturday morning, with the latest fatality coming from the Cordillera region. The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council identified the latest fatality as Vicente Yossayos, 57, of Poblacion Sadanga in Mountain Province. Meanwhile, at least four were injured while 12 remained missing, including Julie Lagadeo, 19, of Sitio Balbalnag in Kibungan, Benguet. The NDRRMC said the storm had affected some 370,549 families or 1,700,085 people in 1,188 villages of 91 towns and 21 cities in 12 provinces. Of these, 549 families or 2,083 people are still housed at 18 evacuation centers. Damage to infrastructure and agriculture was estimated at P563.674 million, NDRRMC records showed. State of calamity Pampanga was placed under a state of calamity through a resolution of the provincial council. Five towns in Tarlac — Camiling, Paniqui, Concepcion, La Paz, and San Clemente — were also placed under a state of calamity.
