Three suspected communist rebels were killed while five others were wounded following a firefight with government security forces in the central Philippine province of Negros Oriental over the weekend, a regional military officer said Monday. Col. Sumagaysay said the firefight, which lasted for 15 minutes, also left wounded one Army enlisted personnel identified only as Private Salvador. The rebel fatalities were identified only by their aliases Amid, Sam and Delio. Intelligence information reaching the military said five other rebels were wounded, also identified by their aliases: Estella [female], Nap, Sonny, Abner and Ponso.
