Pangasinan town under state of calamity due to floods

Calasiao town in the province of Pangasinan has been placed under state of calamity due to floods triggered by heavy rain, a report said Wednesday. In a report on GMA News TV's "News To Go," GMA Dagupan's Roland Umangay said the town's public market is swamped by knee-deep floodwater and some of the residents around the area are experiencing food shortage. Three of the town's barangays – Talibuo, Malalabago, and Lasid – are inaccessible to vehicles due to waist-deep floods.

Floods in the area were caused by heavy rain that triggered the Sinukalan River to overflow, the report said. It added that the Calasiao municipal government has already given the go signal to use its calamity funds to give relief to those affected, the report said. — LBG, GMA News
